POST #10 St.Peter's Basillica Vatican City

This is a sign from Basilica Di San Pietro in Vaticano City. This picture was taken by a person on the inter net by the user name of Pickle Deli Square, this photo shows that women who wear blouses that show their cleavage and midriffs including men that expose their chest were not allowed to enter the city. Only women and men who wore shirts that were not revealing were allowed to enter the city. I chose this photo because there should not be a restriction on what someone wears, it is their choice and that it is a cliche because the city wants people to be a certain way and that is wrong. People should be free and have the right to choose what they wear and how they wear it.

POST # 9 "Forget Me Not" curated by Jan Petry

This painting that was curated by Jan Petry, it has some of the postmodern strategies such as re- contextualization. In the 19th century New Englanders engaged in painting themselves and members in their family as well. In that time period painting people or themselves was a source of status, people liked to look at paintings that showed statesmen and generals. This relates to re-contextualization because artist created  portrait's that defined how life was like, and by using those elements to design something new was part of re - contextualization as well as appropriation.

My first quarter of art in high school was not what I thought it would be. I anticipated it to be all about drawing and learning about colors and shapes, but it was really about learning the many principles and elements of art and how they made up an artwork. I enjoyed participating in projects and activities such as the exquisite corpse and the accordion book, I was challenged by using all the elements and principles of art into a composition. I see art differently, I view artist's work as something new and unique. Art not only express the artist's emotions but it can connect to the world. Blogs was a transition from regular work which made it hands- on so students can see how art can be represented in numerous of ways. Viewing and judging art is important, if one person does not like a particular work of art they are likely to talk negative and dislike the art. I was taught various things in art this quarter but one thing I must say gaining the knowledge and enjoying doing it is what made this quarter good.
