  1. When working on the accordion book I learned that you can demonstrate principles and elements of art.I learned that artists uses these concepts to create a work of art. All art is displayed differently, and what may not look good to others may just be as creative and personal. I also learned it is good to make positive comments and not hurt peoples feelings. I was informed of this when I was evaluating another classmates blog.

  2. What I found enjoyable about the project was the students had a choice about the way they wanted to create their accordion books. There were some limitations to the project but mostly the thoughts and ideas flowed through the students mind. I believe creativity was key and taking the time out to think of ways to add your own style was what I also enjoyed about the project. I liked the poem I made for the book , it described the elements and principles in a new form. I found that to be exciting as I wrote down words and added several other elements and principles.

  3. What I found challenging about the project was how I  had to incorporate all the elements and principles of art. With most people I had to come up with a way to display those concepts, at first I was confused as to how I should start the project. Thoughts didn't flow through my mind when thinking of a design and that was hard to do. Adding more colors and shapes to my book was also challenging, and thinking of ways to make my book look nice. I didn't want to add too many items to the project I did not want it to be unsatisfactory.

  4. If I were to make another book I would change my design, instead of using small shapes such as squares and rhombuses. I would make larger ones that stand out, I believe that would look better. I will most definitely use different color paper. I'll use warm colors such as orange and scarlet red. That would make the new book more interesting and exciting, I feel that I would be more fascinated with the project.
  
    The accordion book was a project that I was not familiar with at first but during the process I enjoyed spending time on it. While making the book I "connected" with it and made it my own, I'm happy that the project turned out for the good.

Artist: Mirabelle Studio
    
      I chose this handmade book by Mirabelle Studios because it included several elements of art. Line and Movement, texture,emphasis and many others. I like the design that was created and it stands out to the viewer which is emphasis, I believe that the image express movement as you can see the lines that create the image's shape. Principles of art were used I see rhythm, this particular handmade book brings out emotions
external and internal. It can also make someone feel good yet feel bad because there are many strong points and tension, connections can be made. This book is truly a work of art.

Artist: Lynne Taetzsch

I notice Texture and color in Lynne Taetzsch's abstract drawing.The different colors are deeply shaded than others which provides a smooth and rough feeling to the artwork.Gradation was used  to make a change from small shapes to larger ones, I see movement as well, it guides the viewer's eye to each part of the work.

Artist Casey Kotas
   
   The artist Casey Kotas uses many different types of elements of art but two elements of art that I see is Texture and Line. Texture is being used in  transition from smooth to grainy inside the artwork, Line is also being used to create circles and patterns.Emphasis is in the artists art it draws attention to the most important parts of the work such as the darkened circles. Movement can have the viewers eye all throughout the work of art, and that is happening in the work.

  This oil painting is about a woman who is playing a cello she is playing passionately the woman is in deep concentration about her cello.The painting has many colors that expresses her mood. Anger is in her eyes.The woman plays her cello with fire and intensity, the paintings portrays beauty as well as elegance.

2.Did the woman go through anything when she was a child?
3.What inspired you to create this oil painting?
    Theme.
The theme of this oil painting is determination the woman is determined and focused about her work. Nothing can slow her down. she puts her best foot forward.

When reading " Race and Gender Criticism" there were several key issues that stuck out to me. As I was reading I noticed what I call problems in the art industry, In Western art establishments white males who are in the industry judged female artists those of color included based on their skills and design. Those men also stereotyped female artists originality. I believe artwork in general shouldn't be based on how the painting/sculpture looks but what it portrays and how it makes people feel. Problem number two, one woman of color and three white women out of seventy-one artists were allowed to attend Modern Art in New York. Artists should attend galleries if they don't "qualify" for the shows. Women have been talked about in a negative way for years and I think if a women can accomplish their goals and share their feelings in a positive perspective then they should be valued as something excellent.

1. Is it okay to judge someones artwork when a person didn't take the time out to examine it?
2. Do you believe that women in the art industry should be appreciated for their work?
3.If the tables were turned do you think it's a double standard if men were stereotyped for their work and not women?

I was introduced to art when I was in the seventh grade. My class and I were making masks for a performance, instead of making the mask by using paper machete I used a different kind of material. The new material that I was unfamiliar with felt hard but placed in water it turned soft and smooth. I was told by my teacher that the class will be putting it on our face, the class was shocked when they heard what we'll be doing.To my surprise I was the very first volunteer everyone said that I could do it.As the material was placed on my face it felt cool but as my teacher started to put more on my face the new material hardened, it also covered my nose. When I took the mask off and washed my face the mask had the same features that I had, I was filled with excitiment.
